A WARM WELCOME!
We may be a small community church in Beckwithshaw, near Harrogate in North Yorkshire but we have a big, welcoming heart.
We hope the information on these pages helps you find what you are looking for. We would love to personally welcome you and perhaps to see you join us for worship. If you need to talk to our Vicar in person don’t be afraid to give him a call, or see him or a Churchwarden on Sundays if you have any questions.
St Michael and All Angels’ is a Parish Church serving the village of Beckwithshaw and the surrounding area. An excellent example of a Victorian Church in the Gothic Revival style with examples of fixtures and fittings in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement. Having recently become a Grade II listed building, the church has examples of fine stained glass windows portraying scenes from the Book of Revelation and carvings by William Pashley.
Our church is very much here to serve the community, in family worship and in weddings, funerals and baptisms. We have close links with the school and a thriving Junior Church and hope that we may see you in the near future.

We need to make some changes .........
As custodians of an important piece of our heritage we are looking to protect the building for the next 100 years. The current heating lighting and facilities in the church building are not conducive to this.
We would like to do something imaginative with the space so that the building has a viable use and a vibrant future. We are also anxious to preserve the current features of the building and to tell it’s story in the context of the social history of our village.

REFURBISHMENT AND ANNEXE UPDATE OCTOBER 2018
The new central heating boiler has been installed, commissioned and is working just in time for those cold winter Sundays! The notice board has been agreeed upon and ordered. Bell ringers have started practising on Monday evenings again and are making a joyful noise on the whole! If you would like to join them contact email@example.com or telephone 531261.
New pew runners have replaced the pieces of old carpet (used for more than 35 years that I know of) and these are very smart and comfortable!
The PCC have also been working on a logo design and corporate colours for a new notice board and this will be ordered very soon.
At last, Planning Permission has been granted for the new annexe so we need to get our skates on and apply for as many grants as possible. Although we have a sizeable amount in the kitty it is not enough and we will be making immediate applications for both boiler-replacement funding and Heritage Lottery funding for the annexe. Many funders require us to 'match-fund' so the amount we already have is going to be extremely useful. The PCC have worked as a team to put together the applications so fingers crossed!
We have had the bell-tower cleaned out and around 16 black sacks of birds nests and remains and all sorts of unmentionables removed. The louvre windows have been covered with mesh inside to stop further nesting and roosting and all we need now is a new team of bellringers.....
